Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. – William Arthur Ward
Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (1 Chronicles 16:8) Continue reading “Do You Have a Life of Gratitude?”
Throughout this day, Americans everywhere will celebrate freedom, as well we should. It’s one of the defining principles of our nation! Yet one might ask, Of those celebrating freedom, how many are truly experiencing it?
Certainly, many men and women are living what has been called the “American dream.” They enjoy well-paying careers, wonderful homes, and interesting hobbies. But meanwhile, their “pursuit of happiness” has yet to be satisfied. The reason is that lots of people remain prisoners, internally and externally, despite their apparent success. They are bound to jobs, anxiety, and depression, or a fear of losing what they’ve worked hard to possess. However liberating circumstances may seem externally, we eventually learn that freedom must be realized within. But how?
The answer is Jesus Christ. Isaiah 61:1 prophesied a key aspect of Jesus’ ministry, which continues to this day: He has come to heal the brokenhearted and set captives free. When we trust Him as Savior, the chains holding us back from joy are broken. We are liberated from lies that have been programmed in our minds from an early age, and we begin to see things from God’s point of view. Then we discover that our needs, desires, and overall well-being rest securely in the arms of our heavenly Father.
Are you feeling the weight of anxiety or anger? Look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). And remember the promise of 2 Corinthians 6:2 “Now is the day of salvation” (NIV). The day you trust in Christ is the day He delivers you from fear and bondage. The day you trust Christ is the day you begin experiencing freedom! Need help praying? Click here to contact me!

I would like to take a few moments to share with you about your Father’s heart toward you. Yes, I am referring to your Heavenly Father.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
That’s a lot of love. God loves us so much. The sins of this world have lead us to places we should not be going, doing things we should not be doing, and encouraging us to say things we should not be saying. But God’s love is so great that no matter what the sin, He sent His son to die for us so that we can be forgiven and made whole. Someone had to pay the price; blood had to be given as a sacrifice. God sent Jesus, the only sinless one, to be the payment for our sins. He did this by giving His life as a ransom for our sins.
We have seen great fathers in this world. The story of Dick Hoyt, the father who pushed, pulled, and carried his son, Rick through a triathlon is a great example. He swam 2.5 miles, cycled 125 miles through hot lava fields, and concluded by running 26.2 miles with his son. You see, he loved his handicapped son so much. His son’s dream was to be in this contest. The father’s heart was to meet that need for and with his son. No, they were not in first place or even second place, but they did finish just under the deadline. The father ran the race with the son.

Our Heavenly Father is running the race with us. We are all in a race. If we have asked Jesus, God’s Son, into our hearts and to forgive us our sins, then we are pressing on to win the prize.
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
God’s heart is so big for us. His love is so awesome. He wants only what is best for us. Our Father in heaven has a very big heart for us. He cares, wants us to be healed, cleansed from our sins, in right relationship with Him and others around us, and on our way to heaven. He has a wonderful place for us to go.
Bad customer service is not just frustrating for consumers: it costs them billions of dollars andcountless hours per year. One angry Virginian even cited Verizon’s horrible customer service as the cause of her heart attack.
Despite this, many companies are notorious for providing bad customer service year after year. In the 2015 American Customer Satisfaction Index, the infamously bad customer service at Comcast fell even lower and earned the company recognition as one of the worst brands in America. Comcast has suffered so much damage from angry customers – some of whom have taken to Twitter and created viral rants to vent their frustrations, according to Quartz – that it is investing $300 million to improve its customer service.
Yet, giant companies are not the only perpetrators of bad customer service. For LegalShield associate Larry Smith, a trip to a local jeweler ended in disaster when a cherished family ring was destroyed. “I never expected it, but was even more surprised when the owner refused to do anything,” says Smith. “That’s when I called my LegalShield attorney. After she called the company, I was able to go back later that same day and pick up a check for $2,000. It was that simple.”

Unfortunately, many people are not aware of their rights – or, worse, they voluntarily waive them. According to Michael Fiffik, an attorney with a LegalShield provider law firm, “Consumer contracts are notoriously one-sided. The company is producing the contract so it generally contains only matters of concern to the company – the customer’s obligations, the company’s remedies in the event of non-payment and right to get out of the contract easily, etc.” He continues, “Consumers almost never read the ‘small print’ and companies know that so they fill these contracts with provisions benefiting only them.”
A variety of federal and state laws exist to help protect consumers. For example, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (the “Dodd-Frank Act”) created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”). The CFPB is empowered to examine and issue rules relating to unfair, deceptive or abusive acts and practices. According to the2014 Consumer Response Annual Report, the CFPB received approximately 250,000 consumer complaints last year alone.
