Part 1 – The Gentile World Is Guilty

Romans 1:18–32

Hear ye! Hear ye! Court is now in session!

The theme of Romans is the righteousness of God, but Paul had to begin with the unrighteousness of man.

Paul followed the basic Biblical patter of first Law and condemnation, then grace and salvation.

In this section, (Rom. 1:18–3:20) God makes three declarations that together prove that all men are sinners and need Jesus Christ as their Savior.

1. The Gentile World Is Guilty! (Rom. 1:18–32)
2. The Jewish World Is Guilty! (Rom. 2:1–3:8)
3. The Whole World Is Guilty! (Rom. 3:9–20)

⁷ For what great nation has a god as near to them as the Lord our God is near to us whenever we call on him? ⁸ And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today?

⁹ “But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

A Verse-By-Verse study through Romans

Romans 1:8-10

In the opening verses of the letter, Paul introduces himself to the believers in Rome. Some must have known him personally, since he greets them in the final chapter. But many of them he had never met.

So, in these first 17 verses, Paul links himself to his Roman readers in three ways:

1. He Presented His CREDENTIALS (Rom. 1:1–7)
2. He Expressed His CONCERN (Rom. 1:8–15)
3. He Affirmed His CONFIDENCE (Rom. 1:16–17)

Paul proceeds with a second link between himself and the believers in Rome.

Father’s Day Message

Happy Father’s Day!

Fathers play a fundamental role in the lives of their children. We are to protect, provide, nurture and admonish, and point our family to the ultimate source of life, our Heavenly Father. While not perfect, we are to be an earthly representation of who God is.

I lost my dad to diabetes, heart and kidney disease back in September of 2020. As I continue to lead and father my family, I find it difficult to describe the void in my life caused by the absence of my dad. The best way I know to fill the void is: 1) allow the Lord to fill that void with His presence; 2) remember what my dad taught me and live out those principles.
