Do You Have a Life of Gratitude?

thanks-give

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. – William Arthur Ward

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (1 Chronicles 16:8) Continue reading “Do You Have a Life of Gratitude?”

Effects of a Right Attitude

thankful_gratitudeSome find it hard to say “thank you.” A farmer was sitting on the porch with his wife. He was beginning to realize how much she meant to him. It was about time—for they’d lived together forty-two years, and she had been such a help. She had shared the joys and the hardships of their marriage. She had worked hard and loved him unconditionally. One day as they sat together, he said, “Wife, you’ve been such a wonderful woman that there are times I can hardly keep from telling you.”

How Are You In The Decision Making Process?

Steve lived in a large house in a pleasant suburb. It was a great place to raise his family of five, but his children have long since married and moved on. 15 years ago, Steve’s business failed, and although it would have made financial and practical sense for Steve and his wife to downsize, they loved their home and always put off the tough decision. How To Remove the Barriers of Personal Development

personal-development2How do you get better at what you do? How do you improve your skill set? How do you gain more depth and wisdom as a person? How do you gain insight? How do you overcome obstacles? How do you work harder?

Answer, you must become an intentional learner.

Personal development or personal growth doesn’t just happen!

Some say all you need to do is just focus on your goals – that doesn’t guarantee personal growth. However, if you focus on personal growth, you will grow and hit your goals! Continue reading “How To Remove the Barriers of Personal Development”

From Pastor to Entrepreneur

entrepreneur-00001

Every time I get a chance to talk to occupational ministers, I try to delicately pry open the idea of entrepreneurialism.

In the Old Testament, there was a dividing line between the classes. The farmers got land as an inheritance in the promised land. The priests got no land, but “the Lord himself.” They couldn’t get each other’s take. Continue reading “From Pastor to Entrepreneur”

Need A Job? Read This First!

find-job-logoBusiness leaders often cite 2,000 hours as the average worker’s annual time commitment to the job. It’s roughly calculated based on a 40-hour average work week. For many entrepreneurs and leaders, though, 2,000 hours is just a dream, with 2,500 hours or more being the unfortunate reality.

If we accept 2,500 hours as a general rule of thumb, that’s likely more hours per year on the job than you devote to any other single activity — more time at work than with your loved ones or your favorite hobby or recreation, perhaps even more time than you sleep. If this is the case, shouldn’t work be about so much more than just a paycheck? Continue reading “Need A Job? Read This First!”

Need Inspiration? Look To The Ant

ants-carry-weightA great Proverbs bible study is found in chapter 6 verses 6-11. It reads as follows:

You lazy fool, look at an ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do. All summer it stores up food; at harvest it stockpiles provisions. So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing? How long before you get out of bed? A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, poverty your permanent house guest!

Everybody should study ants and their philosophy—it’s simple, but it’s powerful! When was the last time you saw ants reach an obstacle and give up with their heads down and head back to the ant hole to relax? Never.  Continue reading “Need Inspiration? Look To The Ant”

Build The Career You’ve Always Hoped For Using LinkedIn

linkedin_3f937db_thumbLinkedIn is an insanely useful tool for every working person, not to mention every job-seeker and student.
